Thoughts on Horton Hears a Who

A journal excerpt on 3/15/08:

Tonight I saw Horton Hears a Who - after about 3 years of waiting. The story is so prophetic on so many different levels. Of course the biggest point is that "a person's a person no matter how small." The movie parallels the fight to have the babies in the womb recognized as lives and therefore are worthy to be protected (as the Declaration of Independence outlines the right to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness"). The elephant, Horton, embodies many characteristics of Jesus, as he was the protector of the speck, on which the wold of Whoville existed. One of my favorite lines in the move was when Horton said, "I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant is faithful on hundred percent!" Then at the end, after being mistreated, persecuted, and schemed against by the kangaroo, Horton extends her mercy and gives her a cookie. Oh, what a beautiful picture of Jesus!

One of the unexpected aspects of the movie, however was that the Who's didn't know how small they were and that their whole world existed on a speck! They were in need of a protector, for they literally were DUST in the Jungle of Nool! (See Psalm 103:14) When the Mayor Whoville realizes the truth he tries to sound an alarm to the town, but no one would believe him that trouble was coming! This totally parallels the calling of a Forerunner at the end of the age!

The part that made me really cry was when Jo-Jo said "Yopp!" and it sent the sound wave through the barrier so that the others could hear the Who's. It really impacted me that it will take all the voices crying out for the ending of abortion for the people, and those in control to hear the babies "crying" out from the womb: "I want to live!" Every voice counts, and it could even be my voice (or yours), that when added to the others, pushes the "sound" through that barrier. I still have hope.

Great Gift Idea

A couple of weeks ago I had this brilliant idea to bless this young couple at IHOP Atlanta who are leaving us to go and minister to Native Americans in Arizona. It was going to be a big collage of all our our badge photographs. When I spoke to my good friend, and our web designer, David, he had a better idea. Publish a book. Yes, that's right, publish a book. And so I did.

After long hours of going through hundreds, yea thousands, of photographs, (with the help of photographer extraodinaire, Chris G-love), I was able to send to print a photo book last night/morning at 4:30am. I used the awesome program My Publisher. I highly recommend this program and I will tell you in a few days how the product turned out once I receive it. It even has an option for all you Mac users (you know who you are). I am expecting it to be SWEET. I might even post a few of the awesome pics that I chose, since I so love my IHOP.
