"Centered Prayer"

Centered Prayer is another way to say what most of us have heard of as "Contemplative Prayer". I have not been one to "engage" in this kind of prayer, ever really. I enjoy more interactive prayer. Over the last few months, the Lord has been emphasizing such concepts as "resting in Him", "waiting on Him", and "Be still and know that I am God"(Ps 46:10). Although I have not plumbed the depths of these concepts, I have begun to understand that it is vital to my health to REST, WAIT, and BE STILL. In addition, it goes completely against my flesh to do this, considering that I really enjoy checking things off my To Do List!

Just tonight I read a website that defines Centered Prayer and explains a little on how to "do" it, even though you are not really "doing" anything but sitting in the presence of the Lord. I tried it for the suggested 20 minutes. You know what I found out? There is a LOT of traffic in my brain! It's like I-75 during rush hour in Atlanta! I had such a hard time getting and remaining quiet before the Lord. The website said that the fruit of this kind of prayer doesn't come until after the prayer time. I hope that it does come soon... I need a breakthrough.

Month in Review

I have been out of the blog loop for a little while. I logged onto Randy's blog today and actually thought he might be either a) running for president, or b) out of his mind. Of course, neither are true, but in order to remain on his "Illustrious Roll of Peeps" and hopefully be appointed to one of his cabinet positions one day, I know I must blog.

So here's a month in review:

Weekend of New Years' - I moved, AGAIN, to hopefully a more permanent place. I am living with 6 other girls and share a basement apt. with one of them.

First week of Jan - Global Bridegroom Fast, continuing to settle into my new place, first Silent Siege of the year on Jan. 6

Second week of Jan -
  • GA House Bill 1 is submitted to the GA House of Representatives. This bill would end all abortions in our state. On Tues of that week we trucked downtown to a special hearing a press conference held by Operation Outcry in conjunction with the sponsors of HB1 to intercede. We were able to meet Reps. Bobby Franklin & Melvin Everson, who are sponsoring HB1.
  • Mike Bickle came to speak a word to IHOP-ATL for our One-Year Anniversary (a month early).
  • That weekend I went with my B4L team to Ft. Mill for the Call Relaunch. It was good to get out, and especially good to see old friends, and meet new ones. I was able to meet and pray with the lady who was the last abortionist in South Dakota. God turned her heart to repentance!
Last week- caught up from being out of town and continued to settle into my new pad. The first of our Friday night sieges began.

This week- Yesterday my B4L team and I went down to the GA Capitol to crash the Judiciary committee meeting and pray that HB1 would move through this committee and go to the floor for a vote.

Now that I have you all caught up, hopefully I'll keep up with my blogging...
